Colorado House Passes Gun Control

It has not passed yet, it just passed in the House. It still has to pass the Senate.

To our forum members in CO: what do you think are the odds of this passing the CO Senate? The rest of us are watching of course - if this can pass CO…Nil Sine Numine.

UGH, projectile vomiting!

The ramifications of a ballot measure legalizing marijuana are antis swept into office.
Probably true but it is sad that there is any correlation between the two. It's the problem with issue politics. You support one position so you are forced then to support another. I bet there are a lot of pro legalization folks that are pro gun. In fact they can easily go hand in hand.

Colorado has been invaded by left wingers from california. They kill everything they touch.

From here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_Senate

..it says the Democrats have 20 seats, the republicans hold 15.

But the bill says mag limit of 15, up from the earlier 10. And the loudest mouthed woman says she's tired of the killing. Yeah, nobody can be hurt w/15 rounds in a mag.

I've just gotten word that Magpul will leave the state if this passes.

Maybe they should move their damned fine selves to Arizona if it is true.

Based on how the party line voting has gone, the laws will all pass, ridiculous as they are. I left CA to get away from all of this type of garbage, might have to move again before too long at this rate.

Lawmakers talk about reducing violence, pubic safety, respecting 2A rights, etc and yet they pass these laws that do none of that. If that was the case they wouldn't prevent conceal carry by permit holders on school campuses, they wouldn't make only people buying firearms pay for all of the cost (if it's pubic safety the public as a whole should pay as we do now). I'm not sure, but I think the background check system is used for more than just firearms purchases, wonder of those folks will all be paying a fee too (I should look into that).

The increase from 10 to 15 rounds was done to help the mag limit pass "constitutional muster" and because when a sheriff was asked how many rounds his pistol mag held he said 15. And several sheriffs who were asked indicated they wanted their citizens to be able to carry mags that help more than 10 or 15 rounds.

Passing laws that have more support against than they do for, so much for representing the people.

High.

Our only real hope is that the governor remembers what state he's in. I have little doubt that this will prove costly to Democrats in the next two elections. Question is, will Hickenlooper go for broke and offer up all three branches of the CO government.

The rest of us are watching of course - if this can pass CO…Nil Sine Numine.

That's exactly why we get to be the test bed. The eyes of the nation are upon us, and these bills and the fallout of elections following it are very telling.

They will probably relocate to Wyoming.

I will, too, if we continue down this path of destruction in '14 and '16.

The progressive influx from kommifornia, Newyorkistan and the Daley-Emanuel dynasty is much lamented by real Coloradoans. They are destroying our beautiful state in short order.

There are, and the issues do go hand in hand. If my neighbor sits at home and smokes weed in his living room ... where's the victim? If my neighbor takes his M4A1 to the range and puts lead into a berm ... where's the victim?

Why should either activity, or the objects needed to engage in them, be illegal?

Make sure your neighbor knows that not all sheriffs are on board with the pot legalization, and it's still against federal law. Our sheriff was right there beside us at the capitol, fighting these 4 bills. But if he catches you with dope, your CCW is history. That is still the law, and he was very clear on it.

I think the point was that lots of people are "pro-freedom" in general. Own a suppressed, full-auto, sbr? Cool. Wanna smoke dope? Have fun! The high school quarterback wants to marry the center? Good for them, though we'll make jokes about what was really going on before the snap because the symbolism is all there.

Oh, I agree. The spirit of freedom has always been very strong here......until now. That is why it is SO disheartening, because it's not just about 2A rights, it's about a fundamental shift in the bedrock.

I just wanted to make sure that people know to check their sheriff's stance on it before they decide to toke a joint right in front of Johnny law.

The "Wacky-weed" ....OK.

Guns.............. We`ll get back to you.

Illegal Immigration...........Open door policy. Don`t want to offend anyone.

Guns........We`ll get back to you.

Hard to figure out when Colo has some many hunters.

Then again, if everybody is smoking weed, who's gonna have the motivation to put down the remote and the cheetos, get off the sofa, and go plinking?:scrutiny:

The agenda for these bills was set before they were written. Countless hours of trying to communicate with these folks has been useless...they simply refuse to aproach the subjects! Still a small glimmer of hope but it is slim.

I disagree. There were two? three? Dems that defected and opposed the bill. They NEVER would have done that had they not heard the thundering volume of emails and phone calls that they received.

And don't make the mistake that the Senate Dems have not heard the same thunder, and the gap is even narrower there. Send a few more emails today and describe how involved you will be in the next election.

It can make a difference!!

Let me ASSURE YOU that there are gun owners who are JUST NOW getting involved and contacting the Senate. They heard the news last night and they are fired up and asking me who to email and what to say.

The momentum is now.

This will pass the Senate unless a miracle occurs.

The jokes about California are unfortunately more true than funny. On a drive back from Utah last spring, 4 out of 5 cars on I-70 were headed into CO with vehicles loaded with all their possessions. They are moving in and taking over, changing the culture, the attitude, the way of life, everything. Like a virus.

"House lawmakers began debating Friday, when Vice President Joe Biden called four Democrats to solidify support for the measures. Two were in moderate districts."

~ Do ya get it yet? Do ya see that it's not a matter of "...oh, we'll win in the end because of what's right! And we have the Constitution and The Bill of Rights to protect us."

Obama & Biden, and the rest of their clan, will buy as many votes as they need to "get this done."

Bloomberg is reportedly spending $2 million of his $24 billion to campaign against the only democratic candidate in the upcoming Chicago election who has a good NRA rating. MSNBC says this is fair because the NRA supporting her shows she's already "been bought."

Politics are changing. It's worrisome.
