Well, it happened. What happened? House Bill 11-1205... that's what!!

To my surprise, a bill has been introduced here to allow for Constitutional Carry along the lines of Alaska, Vermont, and Arizona. Here is the bill...

http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/cl...583112C8725781E005F3120?Open&file=1205_01.pdf

Here's what I'd ask you all to do... Please...

Contact a few members of our General Assembly by CLICKING HERE. Contact a few members of each the Senate and the House. Note that there are several pages there. You can contact a member of a district where you live, ski, hunt, fish, etc. by searching by district.

A map of our Senate districts can be found HERE.
A map of our House districts can be found HERE.

Wherever you reside, vacate, whatever, you can contact that member of our state legislature and let them know how Colorado's tourist economy will benefit from the passage of this law.

BUT ALSO - Contact our governor by CLICKING HERE.

Also, if you are a Coloradoan, please, in addition to the above, sign the petition that you can find by CLICKING HERE.

p.s.
If you'd also mention that HB1180 should be reconsidered and resubmitted to the desk of the governor, we can fight for that one too. It is a CCW permit/NICS bypass at dealer purchase.

Thanks!! :)

CoRoMo,

Thank you for posting this! What a fantastic bill to be brought forward and proposed. Will contact as many as I can in the morning! Thanks again!

We in Wyoming are trying to go Con-Carry right now, as well. It'd be nice to see Colorado go that way as well.

Half-bump...

I've contacted six elected servants so far. Only one had the self worth to reply. It was quite obvious that he typed the email himself, and he was indeed on our side. That is only the second time in all my years of pestering the ruling class, that one penned their own specific response to my letter(s).

I'll tell you what I told all of them...

Getting the governor's signature on this bill is not what I consider victory. Getting this bill to his desk IS.

Hmm... seems like a surge in Constitutional Carry bills are flying around... NH introduced one too... Colorado... Doubt it will make it anywhere but I have contacted Rep. Bob Gardner who is the only Republican who has not co-sponsored the bill in the committee.

The bill is scheduled to come before committee on Feb 24th....

Sign the petition here:

Please contact Rep. Gardner and show your support:

Thanks Ben. Let's be as optimistic as possible to at least motivate some of our fellow gun owners to contact a representative.

It looks like you got some info from RMGO. I got their email and thought I would post a snip or two of it here. I don't know if any Colorado residents, who are members here, get emails from RMGO, and I don't think I've ever seen/read anyone here claiming membership, but RMGO is a wonderful org.
Next week the Constitutional Carry bill faces it's first hurdle in the Colorado Legislature when it is heard in the House Judiciary Committee.

On Thursday, Feb. 24th at 1:30pm the House Judiciary Committee will hear HB1205 by Rep. Chris Holbert (R-Parker) and Sen. Greg Brophy (R-Wray).

This bill already has a huge number of co-sponsors, but to reach the House floor it needs to first pass through this committee.

If you have not already done so, please click here to sign our petition for Constitutional Carry.

....

Today, I need you to contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee to politely urge them to support this important legislation.

Note: Rep. Bob Gardner, the Committee Chairman, is the only Republican on this committee who has not yet co-sponsored this bill.

You can e-mail these State Representatives at the following addresses:

Bob Gardner R [email protected]
Mark Barker R [email protected]
Brian DelGrosso R [email protected]
Crisanta Duran D [email protected]
Daniel Kagan D [email protected]
Pete Lee D [email protected]
Claire Levy D [email protected]
B.J. Nikkel R [email protected]
Su Ryden D [email protected]
Jerry Sonnenberg R [email protected]
Mark Waller R [email protected]

FYI. I haven't looked at the Bill yet.

COLORADO CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE II
Bill of Rights

Section 3. Inalienable rights. All persons have certain natural, essential and inalienable rights, among which may be reckoned the right of enjoying and defending their lives and liberties; of acquiring, possessing and protecting property; and of seeking and obtaining their safety and happiness.

Section 13. Right to bear arms. The right of no person to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall be called in question; but nothing herein contained shall be construed to justify the practice of carrying concealed weapons.

Thanks, but you should have read the HB 11-1205 before posting... It specifically authorizes concealed carry without a permit. Good catch, but even that bunch on Colfax isn't dumb enough to just overlook that fact.

Snip from the RMGO news release...
House Judiciary Committee passes Constitutional Carry 8 to 3

This is just one more great example of how effective your voice really is.

Now the work gets tougher. The bill is headed for the House floor, where we really have to turn up the heat. If you and I want Constitutional Carry in Colorado, we must make politicians feel the heat with our phone calls and e-mails.

The House Co-sponsors on HB1205 are:

Acree, Balmer, Barker, Baumgardner, Becker, Bradford, Brown, Conti, DelGrosso, Holbert, Joshi, Kerr J., Looper, Massey, McKinley, McNulty, Murray, Nikkel, Priola, Scott, Sonnenberg, Stephens, Summers, Swerdfeger, Vaad, Waller.

In addition, Reps. Bob Gardner, Daniel Kagan and Pete Lee have now voted for this bill in Committee.

If you don't see your State Representative on either of these lists, they have not yet co-sponsored this bill or voted in favor of it yet. It is imperative that you take just a few minutes to do this simple two-step process before the House floor vote.

If they are on this list, take a moment to contact them and tell them to keep up the good work and continue to support this important bill.

1) Click on this link to find your State Representative if you don't already know.

2) Call your Representative. The phone number for all State Representatives is 303-866-2904 or toll free at 1-800-811-7647.

* Tell them you stand with Rocky Mountain Gun Owners.
* Tell them it is vital they support Constitutional Carry in Colorado without further amendments.
* And tell them you are watching their vote carefully and counting on their support.

Again, you can reach all State Representatives by calling 303-866-2904 or toll free at 1-800-811-7647 and they'll connect you to your State Representative.

Constitutional Carry in Colorado depends on your involvement.

Please join us in the push to get this bill past the House.
