Colored or Custom Ammo?

I have seen a few members pictures of their guns that have really nice looking ammo. Such as the bulltes were hollo point but had "cuts" on the side of the bullet to give it a new look or flight trend? I have also seen pictures of guns loaded with bullets with red, blue shells? Where could i find bullets like that. Im making a display case and would like to have thouse neat looking shells for the case.

I think you're talking about a few different things....

Various HP manufactured shape the cavity in their hollow points differently. Some leave a smoot opening, others scallop the brass, some have curved striations in it to contorl how it seperates, etc.

Then you have Glaser and similar 'fancy' rounds with colored plastic inserts in the tips.

Several different types of rifle rounds also have colored plastic tips. There's even a brand called PCA (or is that Spectrum) that has colored plastic bodies and normal bullets.

Ahh I See. Thanks for that.. Well i guess what i meant to say was i have seen pictures of revolvers loaded with colored brass. the bullet was normal eigther hollow point or not. but the brass was red, or blue. Or atleast it looked that color when loaded. bottom of the bullet was that color in the picture mabie thats all that was different about them? But the bullets i saw that were shaped different with the "cuts" were the Winchester Super-X Silver Tips. another member PMed me with the name and I found them at midway.

I've never seen colored brass. Maybe it was nickle plated and the color was a reflection?

Are you sure they weren't just dummy rounds? ie: inert, no powder.

If it was that color on the bottom (around the primer) then it was probably the sealent to make the round water proof.

i know a feller who swages a wadcutter bullet that has a hollow cavity with a pointed spike in the center kinda like hydrashoks.he used em in a 38 smith bodyguard he used to carry as a store defense gun.for dramatic effect he colored the spike and inside of the cavity red.

i think after i asked him what he figured a grand jury would think if they seen his "dirtbag stoppers"marked exibit a.

he uses factory +p jhps now.

David letterman dumped a box of red and green 45acp out onto his desk the other night to celebrate Christmas. Must have been dummies the way he was tossing them around (it's certain that he is a dummy)? But yes, they were obviously painted with what appeared to be enamel. Painted bullets would not be a good thing. Dimensional tolerances are nothing to play around with if you don't know what you are doing. Not to mention it flaking off into your gun.

I write on my cases with a sharpie when I am building experimental handloads. There is no harm in that. Do they make different colored magic markers? If so you can make your own colored shells.

i have slightly less than a box of the 9mm hornady vector tracers.since they look like any ball round i magmarkered the caseheads red to tell em apart.
