What color is the 2nd Amendment?

Remember guys, this isn't supposed to be an "inside" thing... RKBA will only confuse some people and lose the interest of the weakminded.

It needs to be SPELLED OUT and SIMPLE. What's wrong with just "Second Amendment Rights"???

Wes

We're really divided on the RKBA wording, but I like GOT's design a lot. GOT, could you whip one up without RKBA on it? Thanks!

Got...

one too many "m's" - Amendment. Hate to point it out, you have a lot of work in that - it IS very good. Fumigator makes a point. Suppose you consider dropping RKBA and split the text on the two legs to something like "SHALL NOT" & "BE INFRINGED" ?

-Andy

I also like Got's design - but I think we should keep 'RKBA' on it, where it is.

You going to get a couple designs matt & have a poll on them? I still like the original we discussed as well...

I want to make sure all the design ideas are out before we have a poll. I think Wednesday should be the cutoff, then we'll start the voting. Sound good?

I really like the one of mattz357 that just says "Second Amendment Rights" or that adds RKBA at the top.

As I tried to point out, it's supposed to be a unifying thing and a civil rights thing. It's not a "my cause over your cause" or "in your face" thing. Not everyone who sports a yellow ribbon has a family member in the service. Not everyone who wears a red or pink ribbon has AIDS or breast cancer. I would like to see those who support civil rights, even if not gun owners, to join this cause. (Dreaming, I know.)

No offense, but I don't like the design regansquad is promoting for pre-orders in another thread (with the giant 2A) at all. If you do, great! Buy it and display it. But I think there are plenty of other "non-ribbon" pro gun or pro 2A bumper stickers available already.

I like the "Second Amendment Rights" design mattz357 posted.

Now, if these are going to be bumper stickers, is anyone planning to make or have made actual ribbons to wear when out of the car?

It's no big deal to get some narrow ribbon, a glue gun, and some brooch pins and manufacture them (pauses to look at purple anti-domestic violence ribbon on cube wall...) I could probably make a couple of hundred easily enough -- enough for people here, all my friends and a couple of dozen for the Badnarik campaign.

It might not be possible to put any wording on them, without resorting to a professional manufacturer, but in conjunction with the bumper stickers, wording might not be needed.

A ribbon just does not cut it.

How about an American flag pin with the silhouette of your favorite species (revo, semi, rifle etc.) of gun on it?

Mattz357, Here is one w/o the RKBA and the original I did, and one that Henry likes.
Ironbarr, thanks for the spell check... heh. I tried one like you suggested and it just doesn't looks right. Its also not possible to have the same size font for each phrase segment in the two different sized legs of the ribbon.

Thanks for the comments everybody. Glad I saw this project that Henry started! Its fairly easy to change what the text says as I have it on an separate editable layer (Photoshop).

GOT...

For the "choir" I'd like left & middle (after the fix :) ), but for "The Masses" it would be the one on the right. I think (who cares, huh?) that would be the correct message of the three you've produced.

Opinions - everyone has them, right?

-Andy

The one in the center delivers the message most members want; I'd be for that one... one opinion of many - which ever is finally selected will not please every one.

I think they all look great. I really like the way "shall not be infringed" looks, but it does seem a little "in your face." Hopefully whatever we decide on will please everyone.

Is http://www.magnetamerica.com like http://www.CafePress.com (where they print and ship only what is ordered)? Or does MagnetAmerica.com require a minimum order? If tis like CafePress.com then all we do is submit the design and then people order.

Here are some blank ribbon variations with colored borders that seem to refer to firearms (the brown for wood and the yellow/brass color for ammo shells).

I think you underestimate average intelligence

You can't split up the letters "RKBA" or it says something else (nothing).

Well I guess those millions of Railroad Crossing signs out there must be awfully confusing to everyone.

GOT, I've never heard of cafepress.com, so I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure magnetamerica only takes custom orders in certain sizes. GOT, what are you using to create these pictures, they are awesome! I work strange and long hours and haven't had a chance to talk to magnetamerica yet, but I'll try to get all the details tomorrow.

I back to liking the second one posted - it has everything.

2nd Amendment (for those that don't know what we're talking about)

RKBA - for 'us'

Shall not be infringed - I don't think this is 'in your face' at all - it's the exact wording taken from the 2nd Amendment and it's the most important part of the 'message' we're trying to get across. If we can burn 'SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED' in everyones minds we'd be that much better off.

BTW, was that railroad sign supposed to read 'Railroad Crossing' or 'Crossing Railroad'? :D

I like how this is turning out.

GOT, I like the gray on gray ribbon better than the colored edges.

I think it is a warning that a rail is crossing the road. Hmm, under its own power, do you think?

@Mattz357, thanks! I'm using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator (industry standard photo and graphic editing applications).

@BluesBear, but those are words. When you take a word/acronym thing like "RKBA" that says nothing of its self and is also not entirely an acronym (and can't be pronounced) and split it up, it loses it's meaning (at worst. At best it’ll be WORK to read it. We don’t want to have to work to read something like that on a little ribbon… at least I don’t :) ). Sure all of US will know, with a little work, what it means, but others will have absolutely no idea. But if we keep the letters together then perhaps those who don't know what it means right off, might be curious to figure it out... IMHO.

I'll take GOT's one on the right (although I'd even drop the RKBA). I figure I can move at least 25 of them. I'll give a few away and it would seen that most gun stores would take 10 of them if they can mark them up in price a little to make it worth their while.

This has really spawned a lot more interest than I ever expected. I hope to see them start showing up on the streets (now flooded with AK47's and UZI's  ) soon.

Since there are no new design ideas, I'm going to start the voting thread. I'm going to ask for a moderator sticky to keep it at the top. I spoke to Magnet America and they said that we can email them our design when we're ready to order, and then they will size it and email it back. We have to order in increments of 250 and the more we get the cheaper they are. Two colors of gray and black text qualify as two colors, so no extra fees. She said to expect a 5-6 weeks from when we place the order until when we get them (still in time for Christmas). We all HAVE to choose ONE design, so vote on your favorite. Thanks to all who have helped!
