Got this one from my local gun shop this afternoon.

Beautiful. I'm green with envy.

When I was shopping for my 1911 a month or so ago, I looked at that one, and thought: "If only my budget were $600 higher, I would snap up that Colt. Should I do it anyway? No, it will not be worth the flak I get from my wife."

I like how they made an anniversary model and kept it subtle. Just a bit of text here and there stamped into the slide.

The question is, will you have the heart to shoot it, or will it become a safe queen?

Congratulations. That is the gun purchase of a lifetime. Promise yourself right now that you will never sell it.

I paid $1020.00 plus 6% sales tax. My gun shop owner told me his distributor told him that it would be the only one he would get. He had three other people after me that had reserved one. I got lucky.

Haven't decided on shooting it or not.

Why not?

If you are thinking collector value then I would like to politely ask why you feel that the next guy that owns your new Colt has more right to shoot it than you do.

Of course if you are thinking of passing it down to your offspring then I understand...

Man, shoot that thing a few times. Keep it nice, but shoot it!

Beautiful photo's. Since I have a personnal bucket list attitude due to 2 cancer surgeries in past six months and had heart value replacement 3 years ago, I just added one to the vault. Cost out the door was just a grand - a lot less than some of the other anniversary models and Colt made the original - God Bless John Browning!

One word of caution - the lettering strike is light on "United" of the "United States" and "Hartford" when compared to the rest of the stamping on the slide. In my haste to secure this otherwise beautiful Colt, I missed this flaw. However as this 45 is not intended to be a " Safe Queen", but a tribute to Browning's 1911 and a shooter, especially in Wild Bunch matches, I view it as a life lesson. I will post the results when I run a couple of boxes of hard ball through her.
