Is it possible to purchase an actual WWII era m1911 from a firm like Remington Rand or Union Signal? Let alone the holy grail of an actual Colt made '1911 from that vintage. I'm not talking replicas, I'm talking a firing, Mil-Spec WWII era Colt .45.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know if you can purchase a WWII era 1911 directly from the company that made them in WWII.

The answer is No. Remington Rand was a typewriter company. And Colt while they still manufacture 1911s produce many different models.

It might come down to whether you really want a WWII collector pistol or just a .45 that looks like one.

As mentioned above the WWII pistols are very expensive now.

There are quite a few 1911s and 1911A1s on the market but as stated, it will take a fair amount of dollars to buy one.
Most are on the market because the owners know they can realize $1000+ on a gun they may have paid $100 for thirty years ago.

Heck, I remember them going for $50.00 for a plain jane Remington or Ithaca. The Colts were of course higher in price.
