Hi guys, I just saw today for sale a Colt 1911 A1 series 80 for $500.00. Used of course. What are the pros/cons of this gun. Thanks for the help.

After you examine it and find it to be in good shape; there are nothing but positives IMHO....The price isn't too bad....Some feel that a full-size 1911 is a little too large/heavy for carry. All the aspects of the pistol, pro & con, depend on your purpose, usage, customizing, etc....
Good luck on your decision....

There aren't too many cons to a Colt 1911, unless it doesn't run right.

The PROs, however... It's fun, reliable, simple, and accurate. A Colt NRM Government was my first 1911 (and gun) and I still have it because it's damn fun to shoot.

In my experience, Colt still makes the best performing factory 1911, much better than the clones.

I paid $550 for one last summer; a Government MK IV Series 80 bright stainless, only had 100 rounds put through it and then the owner lost interest. Also included with the deal was 3 mags, 200 rounds of ammo, and a Galco shoulder holster set up. If your going to have one 1911, it might as well be a Colt.

Good luck with your new weapon.:)

I put the gun in lay away today. I just bought on ebay 3 Chip McCormick magazines, the Hogue grips and a holster for it.
