Same, very very few do I not end up regretting.

Just yesterday I was thinking any major purchase, I am going to hold myself to keeping for at least a year to make sure it isn't something I'll end up circling back around and wanting again.

Gov't models aren't exactly scarce but they do have some utility. Would you sell a shovel for 70% of what you paid for it new? Probably not. I'd just have to go buy another one and pay 10% more than the one I just sold when I bought it new.

Has anyone noticed that Colt 1911's never get any cheaper? I bought a new Gold Cup Trophy about 10 years ago for $1000. $1700 today at Sportsmans Warehouse.

Yep I don't think I can ever recall when Colt's went down in price, even in all those years when they had labor problems at the factory and fit and finish wasn't all that great either. Prices probably went up back then as they were in short supply with fewer of them being made. Now around 10 or 11 years ago Colt was turning out some of their best 1911s in a very long time and then was a good time to buy them. I kind of "stocked up" on them, getting two Government Models and one Commander; all of them very well made!

And about 40 years ago I bought a new Gold Cup for around $500, so yeah, they never get any cheaper!

Never buy a commemorative. Lots of bling that nobody wants. Plus you look like a pimp at the range.

I once knew a guy that bought a limited edition Camry. It was white with gold trim. People would jokingly ask him if he could arrange a dinner date with a nice girl.

This might be mod deletion material and I understand.

I would OK with that! lol

I always buy Colt pistols and S&W revolvers. Hard to lose any money on those. There was a reason that CZ bought Colt. It has some deep ties to American history and the firearms industry in this country. Everyones knows the brand.

I have a Rem 1911 with a Colt slide. Built around 1944. Americana.

LoL, go pick up a German P220 in 45acp with the heel catch--you will be constantly poking through bins of magazines searching for more :)
Or, find you a nice Colt 1903--just learning to disassemble one will keep you occupied for a while :)

There is more in the world than our feeble imaginings, Horatio.
