I am trying to find any information that I can on a Colt revolver. I am finding some information but nothing complete or definite. The gun in question I was told is a Colt .22 magnum New Frontier. I checked out both sites proofhouse.com but did not find the correct serial #. And when I went to coltsmfg.com and put in the serial # I get response -
1973
PEACMAKER .22
This is an approximate date

The serial # is g78945. Most that I have seen on line have plastic or wood grips. But the one I need info on is blued and has black pearlized grips. Also does that serial range come up as anything collectable and what approximately the value of such a gun would be.
Thanks for any help in advanced.

g78945 was made in 1973

The "G" series was the New Frontier 22 Scout, made from 1970 to 1977.
There were 190,000 made.
The New Frontier Model came with black plastic grips and interchangeable .22LR and .22 Magnum cylinders, flat top frame and Colt Accro adjustable rear sight.

The frame was made of steel, usually with a color case hardened finish, but some were in all blue.
Sounds like your grips are replacements, probably Jay Scott.

There's nothing unusual about yours.

Value depends on the amount of remaining original factory finish. You'd deduct a little for the non-original grips.

The Blue Book values them as:
60%--$150
70%--$200
80%--$300
90%--$350
95%--$450
98%--$600
100%--$750.

Add 10% if it has the original box and papers.
