I just bought a nice little Colt 22 with a polymer grip and receiver and stainless upper. It has a bull barrel and ventilated rib sight. There is no model number on the gun and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the history of this model? The action is as smooth as any quality gun I've ever owned and the fit and finish is beautiful. I haven't shot her yet.

Thanks

Also Im looking for another mag for her. Help!

I have the Target Model; it has a 6" barrel and nicely adjustable sights. I keep saying I'm going to mount some sort of optic, but I haven't yet. It would be easy to do, since I think weaver bases fit. Mine has been accurate with nary a bobble. You don't see many of them.
Although I haven't verified the rumor, I've heard that the magazines are interchangeble between the Colt and the Beretta Neos.
As for production, I don't have the years it was made, but it wasn't long. I'm thinking late 90s.bThe fixed sight model was known briefly as the Colt Cadet.
It'll never replace my pre-war Woodsman, but it's a fun and accurate pistol, capable of taking turtles or snakes at 25+ meters when I do my part.

I also have one. Mine originally had the 4" barrel with the rear sight on the slide. I later picked up the longer vent rib barrel which came as a kit with a slide with no sight cut. Changing tops or field stripping is very easy with a T-handle allen wrench long enough to clear the end of the barrel. I mounted a red dot sight on the longer barrel which is a lot of fun. It's an accurate and reliable shooter.

My understanding is that when they first came out it was called Colt Cadet, but Colt ran into problems with another manufacturer which had the name already copyrighted. After that, it was simply the Colt 22. I have also heard that Beretta Neos magazines will work, but I don't know this from personal experience.
