Colt 380 Auto

I have a Colt 380 Auto, Government Pocketlite pistol. I field striped it for cleaning and now I can't get the magazine back in.

I removed the slide ect. and cleaned it. There was a long thin metal piece that attaches to the hammer pin that I think I may have "tripped". I can move it up and down but in does not allow the magazine to seat properly. I think the piece acts as a spring to keep tension on a fully inserted magazine but I can't get it back into the "up" position.

Can anyone give me some pointers on getting it back together?

Stop with mag. you might damage this part and no replacements. PM with directions sent

The owners manual states DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSERT THE MAGAZINE WITH THE EJECTOR IN THIS POSITION. If you do not have an owners manual, just type page7b into your computer. That site has about any owners manual that you would need.

Found the owners manual and it was an easy fix. Thanks for all the help.

I see this is a pretty old post. Hopefully I'll get lucky here. I have the same problem but don't have an owners manual. Just picked up my Government pocketlite 380 and same thing happened when i field stripped it. Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance
