I built my first AR last year and absolutely love it! it's a 300 black out PDW pistol. AR building is like potato chips, you can't stop at just one. Now I'm looking into building a 727 clone, after checking out m16a1/c7 uppers it looks like the peep sights are the same diameter. The problem is the diameter is really small too, and I like the peep sights of the A2 where you have a choice of small precise peep or a larger and easier to see peep. Can an A2 peep fit into an A1 sight assembly or is there a place to buy a large peep that will fit an A1 assembly? thanks in advance, also if someone else has a 727 or 723 build and they want to share photos or sources for parts/information I'd love to see what's out there.

If all else fails... drill it. It’s not a structural part so it’s not a safety concern. If you do it right it can be touched up with a coverup fluid and be nearly impossible to ever tell what’s been done.

We had righteous *night sights* on our A1s and CARs in the Army.

If I recall correctly, instead of short (standard) and long-range, they were standard and a HUGE honkin'-holed aperture to use with the tritium front sight post.

Consequently, real precise zero was queered on the front as they had to be rotated only 180 or 360 degrees sat a time.

So, do some research and you can mimic the old night-sight and have a mongo hole and still be authentic and period correct - even if only for a few rifles and carbines issued.

If I can find one laying around or mounted, I'll throw up a picture tomorrow.

Todd.
