Since I don't get on THR all that often-once a week or so, I thought I would comment on the thread that my friend Correia put out about the AR style rear peep sight.
I bought the Krebs rear peep sight that replaces your existing leaf sight. I love it. The peep sight is big-but remember, you are installing it a foot or so in front of your eye. By the time you look thru it, it appears to be a small enough hole so that long range AK shots are fine,(200-300 yds) and big enough so that close and dirty ranges are no problem.(50yds and closer).
Ok, heres the advantages- no shift of zero, and you get to adjust your elevation all day long back and forth.
See, an AK has a great arc of trajectory, so having an elevation adjustment is critical. That's why I went with this particular peep sight. I put it on my Bulgarian. It's everything I wanted it to be.

Correia-when are we all gonna go to Leatherby's again?

John, ahh Leatherbys. Where else can you eat 3 pounds of ice cream in one sitting? :D (see you tonight).

I've used John's Krebs rear replacement sight. It is a vast improvement over the regular buckhorn. Here is a link to the thread about the AR style sight. www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19964

It lacks an elevation adjustment knob. So if you want quick elevation adjust you are better off with the sight that John is talking about.

Global Trades is working on a windage adjustable peep sight to replace the OEM sight. Elevation adjustment is the same as the factory unit. I'm curious to know what the aperture diameter is. The .150 Mojo seems a bit small, and it looks like the sight body would obscure too much of the target area. A simple tube would be preferable, IMO.

Anyway, I can't get past the durability/repeatability issues of having a dust cover mounted sight, and the allen wrench for field stripping.

Boing, you don't need an allen wrench for take down, the button still works the same, it is just snugger.
