I am thinking about buying a .45 later in the summer for carry purposes as well as house gun. I have read about numerous guns that would fill that bill including SA, Kimber pro carry, and others. Now the gun that I would like some info on is the series 80 enhanced in ltwt 4.25" commander.
what I am looking for in this thread is any info from those who own one and pictures and specs. I can not seem to find it on the Colt site. So as always any info you can share will be appreciated.

I have an Enhanced Lightweight Commander. I love it.
The differences in the Enhanced models were a flat top slide, angled slide serrations, an undercut where the triggerguard meets the frontstrap and a lowered & flared ejection port.

Colt dropped the Enhanced line a few years ago and replaced it with the XSE series.

XSE

I have a stainless XSE Commander that I picked up from a friend who
fell on hard times and offered it to me at a price that was too good to pass up. While the looks of the gun didn't appeal to me very much, I can live
with that aspect.

It had a couple of minor issues that were ironed out pretty quickly, and
so far has been flawless in terms of reliability. The accuracy is about on
a par with other guns of its class, and the slide to frame fit is very good
with a small amount of side play and none in the vertical.

Overall, I think it's a nice pistol, and I wouldn't hesitate to carry it. It's
a little overpriced, IMO...and the grip safety could have been better
executed, but that's a subjective point. If YOU like the looks of the gun, and don't mind the price...go for it. I think that you'll be pleased overall.

Cheers!

I have a Government Enhanced and a LtWt Commander Enhanced the only thing I don't care for is the huge MARK IV on the side of the slide.
However what keeps me from buying the XSEs is those gosh awful (IMO) holster rippers (forward slide serrations).

For those who like that sort of decoration and actually think they are useful then I highly reccomend the XSE. The 3 or 4 I have shot were 100% bang every time.
