Guy has a Colt Ace kit installed on a Essex frame the whole thing is in great shape, I have shot it functions perfect. His is asking a $1000 does that seem fair?
I have an Essex frame with a TacSol .22 conversion on it. I bought the frame many years ago and assembled it using mainly Colt parts for the internals. Not an easy build and required a lot of careful work with a set of Swiss files to get everything to fit properly. So I wouldn't necessarily recommend an Essex frame, and the price of that one with the Colt conversion is definitely on the way-too-high side for me.

I picked up my Essex frame brand new for around $55 back in the day. While it is functional I wouldn't go that route again with a M1911 build.
I've been watching a few on gunbroker etc the kit seems to be at $600 for ones in good shape, this gun is perfect but I'm thinking that $400 for a complete Essex frame my be high, I may offer $800 and see what happens.
My frame was definitely one of the more challenging ones as it suffered from holes that didn't line-up properly. Not a single hole location on that frame was true; each one required very careful filing and fitting just so I could get the necessary part or pin to fit in there. Turned out okay and everything works fine but I sure could have done without all the extra labor involved.
