I've got a shot as a used 4" Colt Anaconda for $650.Previous owner "Couldn't it s**t with it". It or a +/- 7" Ruger Superblackhawk for $350 will partner-up with my Marlin Ltd. .44. I like the 4" barrel & double action of the Colt but am unfamiliar with the Anaconda:any good? I'm quite familiar with & trust Rugers;just not crazy about that loang a barrel.
Opinions?

My wife (Missashot) and I have matching 6" Anacondas and haven't had any issues with either of them. Then, again, mine's only got about 300 rounds through it and hers has no telling how many as I bought mine new in '93 and she just bought hers in Dec ($525). We are reloading for them, now, so they are getting shot a lot more......no timing issues on ours, and they both shoot quite accurately. Missashot prefers her 6.5" S&W 629 with Powerport, though.....it's mainly a grip issue, though. If I had the money to spend, I'd buy that 4" Anaconda. I wouldn't mind having a four incher.

I partnered up my Marlin SS 1894 44 Ltd with a S&W mod 29....nice combo.

We got the Marlin because we can't take handguns through Canada when we are on our Truck Camper trip. Nice compact rifle. How do you like yours?

Not too crazy about the Hi-Viz sights & the action isn't as smooth as it could be but the handling & accuracy are NICE & that 16.5" barrel is spoiling.Planning on installing XO ghost rings next & I figger the action will smooth as I work it:*wry grin*but after a BLR just about any levergun action feels rough.

Don't have the Colt, but I do have 5 1/2" Redhawks, a 6" Super Redhawk and a 5 1/2" Super Blackhawk. I understand them and know how to work on them. Don't know anything about the Colt. If you want accuracy, consider the Dan Wesson. My 744 is very accurate. Probably more accurate then my Rugers.
I also have several Marlins that I use for CAS. I now have a .44 mag that I won't be using for CAS. It was stiff when I got it. I just did the usual CAS smoothing and it is much better. I did put on a Williams receiver sight and a AO front sight blade.

I think it depends on what your intended purpose for the gun is.

$650 is as low a price as I have seen on an Anaconda in a while. Anacondas were not bad guns, but they are not Pythons by a long stretch.

There were 2 at a gunshow I was at this weekend, one tagged for $800, the other for $850. I don't think either sold, though.

The Colt will continue to grow in value over the years. The Ruger will not lose value, but I don't see any chance of it going up in price much either.

So, if I was buying this for its collectable/speculation interest, I would go with the Colt.

If I was buying a gun I was going to seriously shoot and use, I would go with the Ruger.
