I'm in the market for a Colt AR-15 carbine (16" barrel) with an A2 fixed stock and flash hider. I have an LE6920 which I love, but would like to not spend that much on this project. I like the MT6400c but, as I understand it, it has a pinned collapsible stock and a compensator (to comply with the 94-2004 crime bill). Is it possible to replace the pinned stock with an A2 fixed stock on these particular models? Also, can the compensator be unscrewed and replaced with a birdcage type flash hider as on the LE6920? I also noticed the MT6731, but looks like it would be difficult (i.e. expensive) to add a flash hider. Thanks for any help you all can provide.

Re: MT6400C
1. It's possible to replace the stock with any other stock. If you want A2 stock you'll just have to replace a lot of parts starting with buffer tube, buffer and buffer spring. Also, one operation will take a bit of labor - hard to unscrew the buffer tube nut, it's staked really well
2. The muzzle brake on MT6400C is easy to take off by drifting out 2 pins, the barrel under it is not threaded, it just has 2 grooves for the 2 pins you drifted out.

You can swap A2 stock and collapsible or pinned collapsible back and forth all you want.

If the rifle is post sunset you may be able to unscrew the compensator and put on a flash hider.

Some post ban but pre sunset rifles had the compensator pinned on and then the pin was welded over. It is possible to grind away at the comp until the pin is found and then pound it out, then the comp can be unscrewed. I have seen pics of this done but haven't had the courage to try it on my rifle.

This is general AR info, someone may come along with info specific to the MT6731.
