I am looking for some insight on the Colt CCO XS. Searching some of the various sites, it appears that this model was a limited production. I may have the opportunity to purchase a slightly used one and have a few questions.

1) Estimated value on one with less than 100 rnds through it?

2) How realiable is this model "out of the box"?

3) If no to # 2, what "tweaking" needs to be done?

4) Any special "quirks" with this model?

5) Are the take down procedures pretty similiar to Gov't model or do you need a special spring tool like with the short barreled Kimbers?

Thanks for any information provided.

Yes it was limited production, in that it was only made one year 1998. I have one and love it. The nice thing about, you don’t have to worry about the possibility of feeding problems as you would with a smaller barrel length gun with a 1911, (flame retardant suit on). I’m pretty sure people that have 3 inch Kimbers or others and have a gazillion rounds through them without problems are going to chime in, so to answer your questions:

1) With less than 100 through it, anything under $750 would be good.
2) Out of the box I have not had one problem with mine. I’ve shot everything from federal hydra-shocks 230 gr to 185 gr mouse loads for bull’s-eye shooting.
3) See #2.
4) No “quirks†that I can think of other than the front strap is not checkered nor are the grips, which makes it interesting in the summer.
5) Take down is exactly like the government model, no full length guide rod to miss with, which IMHO is a plus.

I bought one that year and it is a beautiful example of workmanship. It consists of the Commander top end and an officer's model frame so it works exactly like a full size pistol for takedown, etc. A great deal, imho.

Did the Colt CCO XS come with an alloy officer's frame? Does anyone know the production count? Choices as to finish (blue, stainless, etc.).
