Colt CCO

I have the opportunity to acquire a Colt CCO for $650. I believe it to be the original, pre- XS version CCO given the lack of front serrations and the squared slide top. The gun is marked CCO on the right side and appears in almost like new condition. It also comes with some extras that I appreciate, namely night sights and an ambi safety (I'm a lefty).

I've had my heart set on a combat commander, but I know the opportunity to buy a CCO locally doesn't come along very often.

So, I'm looking for input. Is this a gun that I should consider? My only other 1911's are full size Colts (one blue, one SS).

I have one and like it very much. My hands are smallish for a manly man, so I get all fingers on the grip. My ham-fisted friend just tucks his little pinky finger under the grip and that works OK for him. You can sorta extend the grip, if you want, by replacing the mainspring housing with one that is all-one-piece with an extended and flared magazine well.

Those tend to be a bit longer than the usual MSH so the rear of the grip goes a little lower in your palm. The front of the grip will not be any longer, though. But then you will want to replace the grip panels with ones that have flat bottom edges, since the angled bottom edges won't meet the new magwell.

The CCO is aluminum framed so it recoils up a little more than a Combat Commander will.

FWIW I carry a CCO configured 1911 in 10mm and love it.

If it was me, I'd snatch it up. I love my CCO and want to get another as a backup in case something breaks on this one.

In my opinion, it's the perfect CCW.

I also have a CCO and I would have to highly recommend it. I also have Commanders and Government models, and for concealed carry, give I take the CCO every time.

The price seems to be exceptional for a CCO, considering the night sights.
