Mark_Mark should know the story we grew up with!

The Mask worn by the Lone Ranger:
The evil Cavandish Gang cravenly ambushed a posse of Texas Rangers sent out to arrest them.
Two brothers were among the Rangers.
The older one was their leader and was killed along with most of the others.
Tonto found the Rangers and helped the wounded younger brother to bury all the others.
The older brother had been wearing a black leather vest.
The younger one cut a mask out of it to hide his identity swearing to bring the outlaws to justice.
He and Tonto dug an extra grave so that it would appear that everyone, including himself had died.

The Silver Bullet:
The Lone Ranger and Tonto discovered a silver mine and used it to finance their war on crime in the west.
The Lone Ranger loaded his own cartridges with silver bullets so that no one he shot would die of lead poisoning.
If he didn't shoot the gun out of the outlaw's hand he just wounded them.
He often would scout out criminal activities while wearing various disguises but left a silver bullet as a trade mark among those being victimized.

The Theme song:

I saw Clayton Moore in person at a theater in Cincinnati when I was a kid.
We watched one of the Lone Ranger Movies and then he came out on stage riding Silver.
Every kid there got a "Silver" message cartridge.
If you pulled the bullet out of the case, you could write a secret message, roll it up and hide it inside the case!
He was THE hero to my "cap gun" generation.
His memorabilia does well at auction:

thanks for that! I got the perfect message for my silver cartridge!

and they handed you blanket cartridges… to children! WoW! different times

Excellent. A bit off-topic here, but do we know what brand of mold was used and the mold number? Kind of lube used? Any info out there on fineness of the silver used?
my Colt came with a hidden letter about the silver plating. it dropped out the Colt book last night. Was even signed by a Colt Admin (or someone) of the 60’s.

I’ll take a photo later tonight.
