Hey guys, I have a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm that I want to take out deer hunting. The one upgrade i want to make to it before i do is to install new, adjustable sights. I found a few on Midaways web sight, but i wanted to see what everyones opion / recomendation is for differant brands of sights

Thanks
Brian

The factory sights are simple and nice, if those are a no go I prefer a target style blade sight for hunting. No round dots, fiber optics etc. Round dots are not as precise, and fiber optic sights are fragile and focus too much attention on the sight, and take the focus away from the target.

Nice choice for a deer gun btw, good luck.

Brian: A few years ago Colt came out with a Gold Cup Delta Elite in 10mm and I've seen them being sold online and at several gun shows. They were all blue versions to knowledge. Before modifying yours and destroying any collector value your Colt may have, consider trading it for a Colt Gold Cup in 10mm. The Gold Cups have great adjustable sides, a much better trigger pull and probably more accurate. JMHO! :)

Thanks for the info guys. I dont wont to take away from the value of the gun, but it looks to me that the sights could be removed and the originals put back easily if needed. Honestly i haven't even tried the factory sights out past 25 yards so i guess let me see how they do at farther distances then i'll make the decision.

Take a look at the gun, aren't the sights removable? Also, dont worry i still have the red triangle grips set aside!

I'm not sure what benefit adjustable sights would be really. I'd just practice with the stock sights and get used to them and move on.

You said you hadn't really shot very far with them, you should try it and see what you think. I believe you will find that they are just fine.

I've tried adjustables over the years and I have always ended up with a Novak low profile rear because I like the big flat black sight picture with the notch, seems I'm quicker to get on target because of that big billboard hanging down off the back of the slide. Nice thing about those is you don't have to cut anything. But I've never had any need to move anything once it was set.

well theres no way i'm going to make any drastic changes to the gun, so i'll go out and gets lots of trigger time in before going out hunting with it

thanks for all of the information, it saved me some cash and head aches

Yeah, I agree with TexasRifleman.

New sights won't make you a better shot, especially on a 10mm pistol firing real, high-performance 10mm ammo. Only lots of trigger time will do that. ;)

Skip the adjustable sights. Instead, spend the money on good ammo and then spend your time at the range getting good with your Delta, shooting at it at the distances at which you expect to take the deer.

Adjustability in your sights won't make you a better shooter but the far superior sight picture of a Bomar probably will make a difference. It sure makes it a lot easier to play with different loads. I'd do it just to get rid of those damn three dot sights. A pistol that doesn't shoot to point of aim ain't worth much either.

POI will move with different loads.
