I ran across a colt 1911 government pistol recently that acording to the serial number was built in 1967. After dissambly, it appears all the inner parts are machined rather than cast, does anyone know about the slide and frame, in that year was colt casting or forging the frams and slides?

Colts have never been cast and always been, well, forged, as opposed to the "forgeries". :D
