Anyone know about these? When I google for photos I seem to get Anacondas. Someone is offering me a 8" stainless "Kodiak", says it's similar to the Anaconda that I mentioned wanting. He wants a nice 1911 I have for trade. Any info you have on these would be great, I did a forum search but too many Ruger threads came up becuase of the 'Kodiak'.

Kodiak
Introduced in 1993, the Kodiak was similar to the Anaconda in that it was constructed entirely of stainless steel, but offered the additional features of a recoil-reducing factory magna-ported barrel and unfluted cylinder.[4]
There were 2000 Kodiaks made as a special run of Anacondas, breaking away from their long history of naming revolvers after snakes.[4] A special run of 1000 King Cobras was made about the same time, having the same Magna-Ported barrel and unfluted cylinder and were called the Grizzly.[4] There was an uncataloged 5" barrel version of the Anaconda, with reportedly less than 150 made. These 5" versions command very high prices when they are encountered.

Quote from Wikipedia. I Bing-searched 'Colt Kodiak .44 Mag'. Several sites name as very collectible. I saw one years ago but had no idea what I was looking at either.

ETA: Wow, Gunbroker has 2 with current bids at $2500 and $2900.

He said it was 8" but from the photos he just sent me it looks 6". Also, condition, I can't tell much from the iPhone shots. He said there's scuffing but lockup is tight. The reason I don't just run over there and take a look at it is there's a 3 hours drive between us.

You don't mention what the 1911 is that might be traded.

Barring a stone G.I. or pre-war, I'd make the trip and trade today.

No dings visible.
Judicious polishing will make the Kodiak look new if that's what you need to see.
If re-sale is considered, just clean off the carbon fouling.

Kodiaks, Grizzlys, and Whitetailers sold or traded in today's market ALL end up in collections, with few of them being fired again.

Gas up and GO!,

I plan on shooting the **** out of it. I don't do the collector thing, I want to enjoy my guns. He is asking for my Sig TacOps which I love lots, but I just came home with a Colt Gold Cup Trophy yesterday.
