Lovely! I usually don't like 1911's with serrations on front of the slide, but yours looks really nice. The grips tie it all in very well and make the package look great. I'm tempted to get one like that in either .45 or .38 Super.
No throating has been done on this Series 80 LWC of mine, but it feeds everything I've given it...Ball, various assorted factory and handloaded JHP's of various weights, handloaded cast lead 225 grain truncated cone flat points, 185 grain SWC's, and CCI Shot Shells.
Fun to shoot Look around you can find good used colts for a reasonable price. I bought a Commader like above for $650 last year. This year I have found a NIB Officer acp for $650. I bought a 4 year old Defender for $550 first of this mo. Found Mag spring was week I replaced with new mag over 300 rounds not a problem
Their are good used Colts to be found .
Not to hijack this thread or insult any one. I have a very nice series 70 commander myself, BUUUUT if I wanted a new lightweight commander, Id get the S&W 1911PD. The S&W 1911PD I have is head and shoulders better than the any of the stock Colts I've used. I know its not a Colt, but it works, which is what matters to me.
I CCW a number of pistols, but I keep coming back to the Commander type pistols. They are flat enough for comfortable IWB and the spare magazine are also flat enough to be carried without fear of bulging out from my side. Then there is that straight back short crisp trigger which makes hits so much more easier to do.
heh.. I know mine doesn't even compare but I love the size, feel, and look of it.
This is straight out of the packaging when I bought it not less than 4 days ago.
I spent about 4 hours cleaning and preparing everything for shooting. What a job, was fun though. I don't have any pics of the finished work as my cam battery is dead.
