Colt model 70 series vs. new type xse 1911 (both new from colt)

what are the ups and downs of these two guns? (Colt model 70 series and new xse 1911) whats the difference between model 70 and 80 colt 1911s? why is the plain model 70 almost the same price as the decked out xse? what one do you think i should get and why? what if i threw kimber into this lot, what would you recomend?

There is an additional firing pin block safety in series 80 pistols. That is the only mechanical differnce as far as I know. I have an XSE and it is a very nice 1911. It is my understanding that Colt "custom" fits the slide with the frame for tight tolerances for the XSE series. Nothing rattles or moves when I shake the gun, so maybe this is true as compared to my other Colt 1991 and 2nd & 3rd gen S&W pistols.

My XSE has treated me well. Though I have drifted away from the 1911 platform I will not be selling this one ever.

Got an XSE the other day in trade, shot it for the first time today. Don't think I'll be selling mine either.

Series 80 has a firing pin disconnect that the 70 doesnt. Some say the the series 80 can not have as good a trigger pull because of this.

Both the Colt 70 and 80 are getting more expensive every day but the 70 is getting harder to find.
