I walked into my local gunshop today an found a 95% Colt Mustang Pocket light (I think this was the exact model). I have always wanted one of these Colt Mustangs. It was in very very good condition. The gun looked as though it had never been fired. There were a couple of small scratches in the frame, but other wise looked perfect. The owner of the gun was still finishing his paper work, when I put down some money to hold it for me. They had not finished when I went back to work, but the shop owner figured that it would probably be about $300. So what do you guys think? Is this a good deal? What do you all think of yours?

And please post pics of your mustangs . Thanks

$300 is such a good price, in your place I'd check the gun thoroughly to make sure it's in good working order!

go buy! Great price. They are getting harder to find. I love my Government .380 pocketlite.

You have your marching orders, now go buy the gun!

Seriously if you did not like it you should be able to easily turn that pistol for $400 and if I was selling it I would start at $500.

They are just not that common. For the people who really want one you can get fairly silly money for them.

I had a Mustang but it was too heavy for what it was. The Pocketlite changes all of that. I went from the Mustang to the Pony Pocketlite, same caliber, much lighter.

The locked breech makes for very soft shooting.

That would be a great price in my area- when you see them , and they do not come up that often in the local shops ,they are $425 - $525 for the pocket light.

I had one that I used for a CCW for awhile. I ended up trading it for a S&W 696. I was always a little leary carring it cocked and locked in my pocket. A good IWB holster would have fixed this though. Mine was pretty accurate. I used it to take my CCL test.

:) Lookin for one myself! Wondering if I should go with all stainless though.....I sweat on the poor things and I also like to shoot them alot when I carry e'm! Thinkin the alloy frame may be a no-no? whadya think??

That's a great price. A dealership I deal with gets one in every now and then, but tries to gouge on the price at about $595, depending on condition. (Actually, these are not the Mustang Pocketlites - they are usually regular Mustangs or a full size Gvmt .380.)

And they are not in that good a condition. It seems invariably, the previous owner has done some hack-job home gunsmithing to "smooth" the feed ramp or paint the front sight orange or replace the mag with an off-brand mag or something is not quite right with them. (Maybe they're getting them all from the same guy...)

I don't know if it's all of them, but the one's I looked at didn't lock the slide when in condition 1. That bugged me enough that I kind of stopped being interested in them.

If you are going to shoot one a lot, either keep an eye out for a stainless one or find a blued one to shoot and use the pocket lite for carry. I got a like new pocket lite in January for about $500 and stupidly ran 50 rds through it in one session at the range. Amazingly accurate, but let me tell ya, that little thing got hot! Afterwards I heard about frames warping, not sure if that is possible or not. I found a blued steel one for $350 also like new a month ago and will use it mostly at the range. Great little guns, I hope Colt will some day start producing them again.
