Colt Police Positive .32

Today I took the Colt to a friend's place and we put a box of PPU 98 grain LRN and 6 Fiocchi wadcutters through it. It functioned perfectly, as expected.

I was able to keep my shots within 3" or 4" at about 12 yards. The gun is a challenge to shoot accurately because of the heavy trigger pull in either single or double action, and the sights, which are very fine and difficult for 55 year old eyes to see. Still, it was quite fun to shoot, especially at an 8" gong which was easy to keep ringing.

I'm looking forward to getting the replacement grips and will look into getting a grip adapter to make it a bit easier to hang onto.

When I was a young cop (1983) a woman had her grandfather's pencil barrel Colt Police Positive service revolver (4" barrel)
I bought it for $100 took it to my Smith who put on a new Detective Special 2" barrel, did a phenomenal blue job and I kept it until last year when
I sold it for $550. I had about $275 in it.
The only thing I'm really sorry about was when I retired from the NYPD in 2003 I sold my service revolver S&W Model 10 and my S&W J-frame 2" off
duty both for $80. Boy have they gone up in price!

Howdy

This Colt Police Positive 32 shipped in 1917. The Serial Number is 1414XX, if that helps you date yours. This one is still wearing its original hard rubber grips.

P.S. I strongly suggest not using steel wool on your Colt. You can buy bronze wool from Brownells. Bronze wool is softer and will not remove the blue, as steel wool might. Rub lightly with fine oil.
What great looker, I hope to find one that nice someday, and you have the box to boot !
