This morning I met a gentleman that was an employee of Colt for 18 years. He was very old and conversation was slow.
He told me that Colt had an Employee Christmas sale. They would sell off salesman samples and other guns to the employees as Used therefore they could not be sold as NEW. He had a letter and list regarding the Christmas employee sale.
I picked this beauty up from him as he told me that Colt had only done a few Pythons like this (he told me "8" to be exact) as salesman samples to see if this combo would sell well. This was purchased by him back in the mid 80's.
It has nickel plated screws, cylinder, cylinder release, ejector rod, hammer & trigger. The lettering is also silver filled.

Super nice find!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a regular one a few months back and love it!

Think your's falls into the "collectible" category much more though.

Would love to see Colt start making more stuff like this again!

Thank you for sharing the info on Salesman samples with us and congratulations on your acquisition. Can you scan the letter (ok to delete the name to protect the privacy of the party) and post it too?

Well did you buy it? You didn't say...

Doesn't look like it's too safe to fire, with a cylinder gap of about a quarter inch or so and the cylinder is seriously out of alignment.

... or is it just an optical illusion due to the BRIGHT polished nickel? :)

Yes, it's mine.:D
I'll see what I can do about the letter.

those are probably the most beautiful .357 revolvers ever.. i wish i could afford one right now!

(I think thats the reflection off of the cylinder)

The letter is a big part of that gun's history and will enhance its value. Also get a factory letter to go with it too and keep those papers with the gun.
