Any help welcome. DA trigger feels less smooth than it should. SA is fine.
Cylinder doesn't spin freely (it spins but only when you turn it manually; it doesn't keep spinning if you give it a twist and let go) and I was wondering if old lube had gummed it up some.

Google for the recipe for "ed's red". Mix up a batch and use it as a cheap and easy general purpose cleaner. In the case of your Python remove the grips and either dunk the whole action end into the Ed's mix or use a squeeze bottle with a pointed top to squirt flush out the action through all the holes in the frame. These include the hand opening, bolt/stop opening and gap around the trigger. Flush generously multiple times while working the action between flushes a half dozen times each. When done set on an angle to let the excess drain out and the solvents to dry away leaving the ATF behind as the new lubricant.

If you don't trust the ATF on it's own then add an ounce per gallon of Ed's mix of your favourite gun oil provided it's soluble in the solvents.

This same treatment will work on the cylinder and ejector internals without the need to disassemble the gun.

The solvents in the Ed's mix are NASTY to inhale or to be in generous contact with your skin. So wear nitrile gloves while washing the gun and working the action. And do this work either outside or in a well ventilated area.

After you're done it should feel smooth as a fresh caught fish on a wet cutting board.... :D

Another option is to flush out the action and ejector assemblies with brake cleaner or Gun Scrubber and then flush the area with a spray in gun oil.

I prefer the Ed's mix simply because it's the general anti corrosion treatment as well as being the cleaner. The brake cleaner option is a full on degreaser so it completely strips the metal surface and you're relying on using enough spray oil to coat all the insides. That means you're using a LOT of oil and it's leaving much more of a thicker film behind than you really want.

Also the Ed's mix is re-useable for quite some time and a lot of guns. So overall it ends up much cheaper than using brake cleaner/Gun Scrubber and spray oil.

Colt cylinders don't spin like s&ws do. Just the way they are made. My guess is tight tolerances. The rest of the action could be gummed up, and you can clean accordingly. Don't want you to obsess about a cylinder you can't spin like a ruger. Colts just don't do that
