I'm a new member and will appreciate any advice I get. I have a Colt Python 357 Ultimate Bright Stainless, 6" heavy vent rib barrel. It is in excellent condition, very lightly used (less than 100 rds fired) and was bought new in around 1987. I need to sell it, and wanted to know what it should be worth, and what would be the best way to sell it. I haven't been able to find the box, but I'm still looking for it. I can't see me throwing it away. Thanks for any help!

Check out Gunbroker.com and Gunsamerica.com
Both provide pretty accurate pricing guides for used firearms. Gun shops/pawn shops/gun shows (postobamanation) are mostly ridiculously priced.

Welcome aboard.
2 best ways to sell it would be post it here in the classified section or put it to auction on Gunbroker.
The Bright stainless Pythons are very sought after and if you find the box and the gun looks like new and you still have the correct factory Colt grips/stocks, it should sell for $1500 and possibly more at auction.

Good luck, Jeff (GUNKWAZY)

not worth much, I'll take it off your hands though.

Honestly it sounds like a treasure and you really should share it with a picture or two.

Those bright stainless Colts are a joy to behold. Frequently I see people at gun shows convinced that the gun is really nickel plated. Not that there's anything wrong with a nickel plated Python; it's just the work that went into polishing that stainless steel to such a mirror finish is simply amazing. I think GUNKWAZY has it priced about right; finding the box and accompanying paperwork would definitely raise the asking price.

Listen to GUNKWAZY, he knows his Colts and has an incredible collection.

I have a 4" stainless and I keep thinking I should sell it, but, I just can't. Every time I get it out of the safe and feel the action....just cannot part with it, I'm too weak :banghead:.....Best of luck if you do decide to sell it.

Don't listen to 76...it is worth probably 250 dollars. I collect them and I don't have one so I will pay you a premium of...are you ready? 350 dollars.

Yes...I know I am a generous guy...you can thank me later.

Don't liste to 76...that is not a worthless gun. It is worth at least 250 dollars. I am a collector and I will pay you a premium for it. Are you ready? THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY AMERICAN DOLLARS!!!

Yes...I am a generous guy. I embaress easy so don't thank me.

Seriously...that is worth somewhere between 13 and 15 hundred bucks is my guess.

Unless you need to, don't sell it. They ain't making anything close to that anymore...and never will again.

Thanks to all for the input! I really don't want to sell it, but it looks like I will have to. One of those deals where I need to sell it to save the rest of my guns that I had to pawn. Hopefully something good will happen and I won't have to sell it. Thank you all very much for the help! $350.00 huh? lol

Good luck. I wish I could afford it right now to go with my 4 inch stainless Python....

I actually bought - two years ago - an unfired or test-fired-only nickle 4" Python for $439.

50 bucks, where do I send the check :)

Seriouly look around gunbroker and other auction site. Try to find a copy of the blue book of gun values.
