Is a mint series 70 better then a mint series 80? or are either better then a current Colt custom shop model? If so, why, what features on the different series are best. I have read about the different series but I'd like some real world answers from people who have them.

For the most part, a Series 70 is more desirable and it is easier to put back together. Some say that it is also easier to get a good trigger pull out of a 70 vs. 80.

I would say only a few experts could tell the difference blindfolded between a 70 and a 80 trigger pull.....I think that is just more internet hogwash. Of course a series 70 is more collectable due to their not being made anymore (not speaking of re-issues).

Thanks for replying, I am interested in the collecting aspect as well as shooting and enjoying a gun. I was thinking either a mint condition series 70 (past issue) or a current Special Combat Govt 45 model. I can actually get the series 70 for less then the new gun. I don't carry, just shoot targets for fun, collect on the side.
