I just got a used series 80 officer's model. My question is- the recoil spring(s) plug has a nipple that will fit into a corresponding notch in the slide. When it is fitted that way and the pistol is in full battery the recoil spring plug extends 1/4 inch or more below the barrel/slide is this correct? I can depress and turn the plug but, that leaves the barrel bushing unsupported. I have yet to fire this pistol and do not want to damage it.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Geordie

That is correct. Yep, it looks kind of funny, but it is correct.

Enjoy your pistol. In the future, you may want to consider a Clark's reverse plug on it, but research it first. For now, just enjoy.

Here's my modified Series 80 Colt Compact.
