I stumbled on a Colt Trooper Mk III 4" Walnut target grips in what appears to be NIB condition, 99%. Seller is firm at $530 OTD (private sale).

There's only one 4" on gunbroker.com, asking $750 to start, other barrel lengths are MOL in that range. I'd really prefer a 6" and the Trooper is not high on my list, but I'm not the type who'll walk past a $10 bill on the sidewalk because I was really looking for $20s.

Edit: For comparison, a LGS has a 6" Trooper Mk III in NRA high "Fair" to low "Good" condition, asking $586 IIRC, a $640 gun after sales tax.

GRAB IT! $530 for a NIB Trooper MkIII is a STEAL!!! If you are really stuck on a six inch barrel, you can always get a blued s-inch Trooper MK III barrel for cheap and swap 'em!!

I have a 6 inch MARK III trooper IN 95% condition that i would trade you even up for the 4 inch. Been wanting a 4 inch instead of 6.

Mike

Will post pics if you want.

OK, I offered to take it subject to inspection. What with it being Christmastime I don't know quite when it will go down, plus he has it for sale online, I may not be first up.

I recall handling the one at the LGS and thinking to myself "this is a darn nice gun".

Time to see what I can prune from the safe to pay for this :banghead:

I would definitely jump on a LNIB Trooper MKIII at that price. Last one I saw like that locally, in similar condition, they were asking $899. I had one many years ago (blued 4"), and I would love to have another one like that again.

Mark III Pics

O.K. here they are. Not the best but i was just goofin around! I have MAYBE 100 ROUNDS though it.

OPPS wrong pistol on last pic!

While you're "price-checking," someone else is snagging it.
That's always a risk. If it was higher up on my want list I'd know more about it and wouldn't have called in a price check lifeline here. In other words, I'd rather pass on one that's not on my radar right now than overpay for it.

In this instance though, I've been assured I'm first in line. We shall see.

Got it!

Turns out we knew each other from before so he knocked another $30 off, an even $500 OTD. I cannot find a flaw anywhere in the finish, lockup, action or bore. It looks like maybe a box of .38 spc may have made it's way through, that's it.

I am thrilled to have found this one, range time is just around the corner. Thanks for the support :)

My take, I had a gun just like yours bought used. It had a problem .357 mag rounds would have the bullet back out of the case when the gun was fired, by round 5 the cylinder was locked up as the bullet in the remaining 5th and 6th rounds had backed out of the case and tied up the gun!! I have heard of this happening with lightweight snubbies but never with an all steel gun. My Smiths did not suffer this problem with the same ammo. This happened with my target velocity lead reloads, my high powered reloads, Corbon, and remington factory .357s. The cylinder is very short on these guns as well, like .38spl length. So I sold my trooper. Check the gun for this before you use it for serious purposes.

Very nice. I saw a 4incher today at my LGS. They wanted $650 for it and it wasn't as nice as yours.
