I'm not new to the HighRoad but I have been away for a couple of years. I have a question regarding a Colt Walker barrel and loading lever that I picked up recently. It appears unshot and has no maker makings nor serial number. It does have the US over 1847 stamped on the right side. It reads "ADDRESS. SAMl COLT NEW-YORK CITY" on the top strap from receiver to barrel end. It is also stamped "D COMPANY 211" on the left side. The metal has no finish, it is bare. I'm told it's a Colt but I'm not sure about that or when it was made. I know it's not an original but before I decide to shoot it, I wonder how valuable it really is. Looks real fine and would be just right on my Armi Walker. A penny for your thoughts?

I saw that on GB and almost bid as I also have an ASM Walker, I believe it is a spare barrel from the 2nd or 3rd Gen Colts or it could be one of the barrels from the Colt lawsuit against ASM for putting the address on their copies. If it fits with no machining; it's probably an ASM as the Italian copies were just off the Colt specs, just enough off to not interchange without some machining.

I hope these download Ok

2nd or 3rd gen sounds right I guess, but if Italian I'm sure it would be maker stamped and proofed, right? If it was scrubbed, wouldn't some metal be missing where the marks were removed?
