Hi All,

During the performance of my first cleaning on my first Colt Woodsman I found myself wondering a bit more on the proper pin to remove for takedown. I also wondered about how the pistol should look after takedown. So after I was finished with the work I took some pictures to help anyone who might also be wondering.

For your viewing pleasure there are 80+ plus pictures of my Woodsman in various stages. The stages and views should cover all steps of the takedown procedure and leave question as to which pin is required to be removed.

A lot of the pictures look the same but are angled slightly due to flash usage and / or available lighting for the bulb overhead. They have been cropped but not resized so you might find they take a bit to load if you have a slow connection.

Feel free to use them on other web sites but I ask you give me photo credit.

A note about the takedown. I have read that the pin Upper Housing Lock Pin is supposed to be able to be pushed out by hand. I have found that you need a small punch to assist in the removal. No hammering required on mine. But I doubt it could be removed without some kind of small pointed tool.

Also on the site are a few pictures of my extractor for those wondering about extractor wear. I would say my extractor is fairly new judging by the barrel wear (or lack of it) for my woodsman.

Below are a few examples of the pictures you will see (they are large!):
