The major affect I have found with my colt for shooting HP is that the tube is not floated and the rear sight adjustment is 1moa for elevation. I want to replace both.

The 2 pins on the front sight are very stubborn. I mic'ed to make sure I wasnt driving the wrong direction but they dont seem to budge. Any suggestions? The replacement is from Compass Lake.

Anything special required or surprises in store for me when taking off the rearsight. My replacment is a Northern Competition. 1/4 x 1/4.

If you know a link that goes into detail I sure would read it. At the moment it just seems like getting the two pins out is the biggest hang up.

Support the sight base firmly and give the pins a sharp, healthy whack or else you will simply peen the end of the pins into a mushroom shape (like a rivet head).

There's nothing special about swapping the rear sight. In the old days you had to drill the sight housing and install a bumper to keep it straight against the pressure of the spring-loaded ball.

Ive just been at little to easy on it with the hammer and realized that it is not going to vibrate out! The rear comes right out when the pin is removed just need to be careful not to lose the ball and spring.
Thanks

The pins on the front sight are tapered and require a solid method of holding and a good solid blow with a heavy hammer. At work we use a arbour press to push them out and it requires lots of pressure.

a punch with a concave face to get it started helps.

good luck ,
Chris
