I am currently writing a column for my university's student newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel at the University of Kentucky. The column is reflecting on the recent shootings at Virginia Tech.

I remember a posting here in the recent past regarding a gun-control advocate who was wishing for another columbine. I wanted to use his blood-lust in portraying the gun-control community. Can anyone please direct me to the thread discussing this guy's comments or even better yet to his blog/column/OPed/wtv...

I'd appreciate the help.

I wouldn't use him as an example. Too easy for other antis to say "Well that's not me, so your points are invalid." Instead, use the truth that criminals don't follow laws. The current laws don't work; what will more and stricter laws change? Tact and civility will go a long way towards winning the day for you.

Jimmie,
I agree with you 100%, the inability of gun laws to work will be 95% of the column. I wanted to use the quote as a lead in/ironic element to draw readers into the story

How about a contrast?
Appalachian School of Law - Grundy, VA. 2002. Shooter was stopped by 2 students who ran to their cars and retrieved their pistols.
High School, Pearl, Mississippi - Shooter was stopped by a vice principle who ran to his vehicle and retrieved his pistol.

Question. How many lives were lost because these 'first responders' didn't have their pistols with them?
Question. How many lives were saved because these 'first responders' were on scene and able to arm themselves?

bingo

The students at VT were expected to feel safe with the protection offered by the campus police. It would've been a violation of campus policy for them to protect themselves.

We can clearly see how effective the protection offered was. Hindsight is 20/20.
