Anyone know what year a Colt Cobra 2" serial # 490xx was made? How about a the Chief's Special 36-1. I realize that the dates cannot be exact but a ballpark would help.

44600 start in 1956, 56201 end in 1957 so I would guess 1956. I don't have my Smith & Wesson book handy but someone will chime in.

Is there an LW suffix at the end of the serial number on the Colt Cobra? If there is then it was probably made in 1956. In 1969 Colt switched over to a letter prefix (starting with the letter A), for the Cobra and Agent models.
