IllHunter - re: 5.11 Tactical Holster Shirt

The undershirt is made from spandex and is very tight fitting. I wear a size large, but ordered an XL and had to return it for the XXL. Any one who wears XL or bigger may have to pass on this undershirt. Have only tried it a couple of times and am concerned how it will feel in the hot summer time. Feels like it will breath ok though.

The "holster" holds my Taurus PT145 just fine as well as my Ruger SP101 with a 3" barrel. Feels like there is no gun there at all.

Smartcarry rigs work surprisingly well in a vehicle...

Pocket carry is comfortable no matter where you happen to be.

Remember, CCW is supposed to be comforting, not necessarily comfortable!

there are a few ways that i carry while in a car. one either in a shoulder holster during cold weather which is really comfortable and unobtrusive.
i use a paddle like my don hume and my kahr k-40 which is very comfortable and i can wear it comfortably for a long long time. from kansas to n.c. driving straight as a matter of fact.

now my iwb holster and my xd sc is great but after a few hours of driving it gets uncomfortable and pains me a little. if i am around town no problem, if i am traveling it will come out, so i can ride more comfortable.

Egad Daemon688, nice shirt! I'm colorblind, and I can still tell that's pink!

I carry OWB at about 3:00 and it's not really a problem, though the seat belt might make it a little hard to draw while seated. I would just release the belt if I got to that point, though.

I will say that bucket seats are more of a "pain" than bench seats for carrying a sidearm.

To quote Clint Smit "Guns are meant to be comforting/Not comfortable"

P.S personally I am carrying a Glock 21 in a Milt Sparks Executive Companion on right hip when I drive.

I wear an uncle mikes IWB holster with my SP101 at 4 oclock when standing, and slide it to 3 oclock when sitting in a tight seat or driving. It did take some getting used to, and realistically I still have a way to go yet. My seating is especially uncomfortable driving a Z06 corvette and narrow racing seats with high bolsters, but canting the weapon forward and bringing it a little higher on my hip allows for somewhat comfortable carry...

here are the seats-

the holster is very thin and nylon, it fits the pistol perfectly and isn't anywhere near as bulky as the bianchi IWB holsters...

I knew someone was going to comment about that. It's actually red, but I think the flash made it look like it was pink. Oh well.

Console or 4o'clock IWB, depends on the driving distance. Console easier to draw from, IWB easier to move to and fro during errand duties. Everytime I exit the car, it goes with me unless I'm going to a fed building or similar.

I'm a skinny rat - so removing it from the pocket's no big deal. I just keep the gun on the driver's seat, under my right leg. It stays in position, it's reasonably well hidden, not too uncomfortable, and a pretty discreet/speedy draw.

Most of us carry incase the unexpected happens.

Car accidents happen that way too and if our guns aren't well secured they're going to flying.

Stay safe!

I normally carry a Glock 23 at the 9 o'clock position since I'm a firm believer in cross-draw. That way I have access at all times, including when driving. This location also keeps it away from the seatbelt buckle.
