I am waiting through the long CPL approval process and have been researching pistols. I plan to purchase after my CPL is approved and in my hands.

I'm leaning toward an HK USP compact .40 cal. I don't see many folks discussing the HK pistols. I like the way they look, and I also like the different variations they are available in.....

I'm looking at variant 9 for carry purposes. I have a few questions though.

Do they shoot well?

Are they reliable?

Are they well respected?

Do their .40's have a fully supported chamber? Or, are they like the Glocks with that gap that swells the brass?

Thanks for your help in selecting a pistola.

HKs are some of the best guns, reliable , accurate, durable. I fired the USP .40 when they first came out and was impressed [I shoot an HK P7 M10]. You won't be disappointed. If you are using it just for carrying you might look into the LEM trigger, a very nice DAO.

Many people seem to hate HK, but their issues always seem related to the high cost of HK's guns or their business practices.

Their quality, design, and reliablity is first rate, however since you can (arguably) get the same qualities in other pistols for much less money people bash them as "overrated" or "a waste of money".

I have two USP's, a full size and a compact and they are fantastic pistols. For tons of info go to www.hkpro.com

I love the USP...I've got 4 :D I had a USP 40 compact once, but when I consolidated my calibers in the collection, I traded it in & bought a USP 9 compact. Great guns :D Good choice ;)

I'm now leaning very heavily toward a P2000K in .40cal. Thanks for the great link wardog. I don't mind the cost, I figure you generally get what you pay for....

Do any of you know about the supported chamber? (P2000K now would be the model in quesion)

I've got a P2000 .40 in DA/SA It is a very realible and durable gun...Shoot greatand is very accurate
Like the above post, it comes down to people not wanting to pay the money H&K sells there guns for..

You asked if it was well respected. I would say H&K is very well respected throughout the gun community...

You dont hear of many problems with H&K guns....drf
