I've got an HK USP Compact in .40. I know on my Sig 229 I can change just the barrell from .357 to .40, but can I do the same thing on the HK USP? If so, any suggestions on a .357 barrell?

I don't recall any of the HK USP's being made in .357. If there is one it would probably have to be the same length barrel in order to work, but I would not test that theory.

I think it would be best to contact H&K to find out your answers.

I did just go to this link and looked up both civilian and LE products and the only Handgun that was made to utilize the .357SIG round is the HK P2000 and P2000 SK everything else is 9mm, .40 and .45cal only.

Sorry man unless you know a gunsmith that can machine out a barrel of the right measurement to accomodate you... you are SOL.

I see where Midway and Jarvis both show a .357 for my gun in the same length as the .40. I wonder if it's a drop-in or is there something else I'd have to do.

There was a time when the conversion was quite the topic and as I recall, it was not as reliable as one would like -- the chief problem being in the magazine :(
Do a search over on www.hkpro.com for more details ;)

I have a factory barrel for my USP Compact,but I don't think HK ever made a full sized 357sig USP pistol,curiously enough...:scrutiny:

I am wondering about a fullsize 40-9 barrel for the USP. That would be great, but when I asked about it on HKPRO the answers included it being "potnetially dangerous". I am not sure why it would be dangerous, but needless to say I was very disappointed.

The fullsize USPs were never realiable enough to do the change to .357 from .40. In the compacts, the only change required is the barrel. ;)
