Howdy:
I am looking for commercially-loaded standard pressure .38 Special 158gr semi-wadcutter ammo suggestions.
I suppose I could also be satisfied with one of the loads that use a wide, flat nose. I have seen those in cast lead and jacketed examples. in the past. Cowboy action RNFP is too stingy in the meplat. I would like something accurate and reliable. I already am familiar with Remington green box 158gr LSWC. It uses a swaged LSWC projectile. It is reliable, but no great shakes accuracy-wise and the super-soft lead deforms easily, just like the LSWC-HP loads. I'd prefer a hard cast LSWC that does not deform so easily.
BACKGROUND
A couple years back an old upper-limb injury came back and I was down the use of an upper limb for a while. One way I compensated was to shuck off the Underwood/Buff Bore 158gr +P LSWCHP cartridges and load my .38 Special snubby with 148gr target wadcutters, preferably Federal Gold Match. Revolver reloads are timey affairs to begin with, but reloading with wadcutters and a bum limb was more comic relief than training. I have since had surgery & recovered, but I have kept the wadcutters in the snubby and and Rem LSWC in the speed strip.
I do reload wadcutters and semi-wadcutters, but prefer commercial ammo for potential social situations.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
