Common Cartridges HELP?

I'm considering buying an automatic pistol and an assault rifle.

I'm thinking the most common handgun rounds are 9mm, .40, and .45
I'm thinking the most common rifle rounds are .223 and 7.62

If we went to war, what would be the most common handgun round that I would most like find on a dead enemy?
What would be the most likely rifle cartridge that I would find??

I know the 5.56 is gaining STRONG popularity in ALOT of countries.

You will find that the term "assault rifle" for a semi-automatic rifle of "military configuration" brings a bit of disdane around these parts. Most feel it plays into the anti's farsicle inclusion of these arms into the same catagory as fully-automatics.

Though I think both should be legal - and just as legal as any old rifle - but that's a whole other discussion.

From your username, and from the other two posts I've read, you really don't know much about firearms or proper usage.


Before being dead-set on buying a semi-automatic pistol or a semi-automatic rifle, why not try a few different things out at a local shooting range or through friends?


If you make up your mind before you know what works for you, or have someone else make up your mind for you, you'll not be very happy in the long run.

First of all, the user name has nothing to do with my knowledge of firearms.

Secondly, liberals are scum, whiners, and scared of their own shadows.

Thirdly, I have a vast amount of firearms knowledge... I'm just unsure of the "popularity" of these common rounds and/or which ones I would most likely find on a dead soldier from an enemy nation.

And the last statement you made, aligned with your poll choices (in two polls which were superfluously created, I might add), show that while you might have a "vast" knowledge of firearms, you have no practical knowledge of them.

What war?! Do you suspect the USA will be invaded or will we have to go to the war? If you have a "vast" amount of firearms knowledge as you say, then you should already know the answers to your questions.
