Does the Comp-Tac paddle holster for the 1911 extend up the back to cover/shield the thumb safety? I can't tell from the pics on their web site.

The answer is no, by the way, for the CompTac paddle holsters for both the 1911 and Browning HiPower.

I don't have a 1911 Pistol any more but I do still have Comp-Tac adjustable cant paddle holster for one. For what it's worth the back of the holster extends about 1.75" above the top of the holster at the center behind the trigger.

I actually bought one for the 1911 and one for the BHP. Sadly, the back does not extend up enought to cover the safety on either pistol. Since I carry these pistols in Condition 1, I need a holster that keeps the safety from being inadvertently swept off by my garments.

www.kytac.com makes a belt rig that covers the safety, called the "High Guard"

It's not shown on the site, but it works pretty well.
