He started adding these because occasionally enough to where he noticed he'd check his gun and the safety would be off, more so with ambi-safety's than the traditional ones.
That's how I got the idea, too.
He also noted that it was more for peace of mind than anything else, as there was the grip safety and having to put your booger hook on the bang switch.
Well, I'd never encourage anyone to carry cocked and unlocked.

Oh, I was wrong. Its 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive.

Heh, I started carrying glocks with a 3.5lb trigger spring, now I rotate through Glocks and 1911s. I've had it happen a few times (Thumb Safety disengaging), I just click it back into place.

The problem is in presentation under stress. Your heart is thumping, you adrinaline is off the chart, you draw -- not noticing the safety is off -- and inadvertantly fire.

I see where you are coming from, really I do. But ain't this covered under Rule #3?

I guess for me it was covered when I started my training with the Glocks. When I put my finger near the trigger, its go time.

Also when I transitioned to the 1911's I had learn to sweep the safety when I drew the weapon. Otherwise I pressed the trigger and waited a second thinking *** no bang? And if your don't think and start to go into a Tap, Rack, Bang for a malfunction clearing, You get absolutely nowhere in the Rack phase! :what:

Anyhow sweeping the safety upon drawing is so ingrained in me that I do it on my glocks, even though there isn't a manual safety on the things. I also have a hard time with any platform where you have to sweep the safety up instead of down.

But I understand piece of mind, and why you would add that button. After all when I boil it down, I carry a gun for piece of mind.

If I could count on perfect performance under stress, I wouldn't need a gun.

Adding a margin of safety never hurts.

My approach is to index the trigger finger and have the thumb on the safety -- I can shoot simply by closing my hand.
