I had a Kimber Ultra Carry II that functioned great, but the finish didnt hold up very well. A Glock 36 is pretty darn compact.

Not too many people mention the Glocks, I'm not a Glock person at all because of the grip angle, but the sub compact 45's fit my hand perfectly, aiming perfectly.

If I wanted a sub compact 45 I would go with the Glock 30, I like the wider grip it has over the 36.

I like my 45 Para Ord. C 6 bobbed hammer light double action and any regular 1911 full size will fit it so target practice or extra magazine are a plenty.

I think you'll like the P250. I looked at them myself (in the .40) and they're really nice. I know some Sig folks don't like them that much due to their polymer elements, and there is a pretty long reset on the trigger, but like you said that just makes learning a new gun fun!

I just got a decent deal on a Springfield Champion Loaded in stainless, and it's also very accurate (I'm also finding the dual spring setup really helps recoil and allow for quick successive shots--I'm about as fast and accurate with that as I am with my friend's G19 or my XDM .40). In any case, I think you got a nice gun with the P250.

FYI by the way, in talking with the folks at Springfield about getting papers, grips etc. for my gun, I asked them about the XDM in .45--they told me it will be released within 6 months. I love my XDM .40 so this will be one I'm gonna start settting money aside for!

Take care all.

To Just One Shot's point, I'd call them first to see if they've got it. I was looking for one there about a week ago and they didn't have any (at least that they could find). The flyer should also list their other store east of Columbus, and they might have one there as well. If I didn't run across such a good deal on my 1911, I probably would have got the SD compact.

+1 for Taurus PT145 Pro.

I also have a G30 and a fan of G30/XD 45 for accuracy, BUT PT145 has DA/SA trigger, smaller grip/overall size and 10+1 capacity.

Don't let the price fool you, do consider the PT145 as a viable 45 carry option.

I was in the same boat as yourself and settled on the Glock 36. Is it the red headed stepchild of the Glocks? Yeah.
However, given the lack of a rail, not being interchangeable with other mags, and other things that some people get bent out of shape over...it's the only Glock that felt like it was MADE for my hand. The 19 is good and I plan on getting one some day when I need a new 9mm. The 30 holds 10 rounds which is nice, but just too dang fat for my grip and printed a little too much. I really wasn't looking for a hi cap .45 because I purposely wanted something I WOULDN'T leave at home or in my truck when I needed it.

The 36 is perfect for me. Slim, compact, rides IWB, points nice, shoots nice, and doesn't break the bank. I adore mine, and it's my favorite carry piece to date. You don't even know its there until you walk down some place that maybe you shouldn't have and the hairs on your neck start to prick up a bit. 6+1 of serious business .45 auto is a comforting thing.

The other choices certainly aren't bad though:) The Glock just fit my hand the best.

I dont have that much experiance but if i was buying a 45 ACP combat pistol i would go with the Springfield XD 45... don't know if i would buy the 4" or 5"
