Great review. I picked up my xds yesterday and shot it today. So far I love this gun. Springfield did a great job on this one.

Great pictures, but PLEASE learn a little bit about grammar and sentence structure. It's very hard to read.

LOL Uh Ok

SO you mean like making sure my sentences are 15 to 20 words in length like my middle school english teacher use to preach?

Making sure I use transitional phrases?

Making sure I use the right pronouns, nouns, verbs, conjunctions?

Yeah thanks.

Not wanting to sound harsh, but it is hard to follow. Further, I believe there is a bit of a cut-and-paste issue where one or two sentences are repeated twice (though it may be a problem with my browser).
Nice review though, and nice gun.
I couldn't tell if the groove in your hand that you describe was from the grip safety itself, or something else. I don't have the big-hands problem but what exactly was the issue?
Thanks,
B

I apologize, I didn't mean to sound too critical, but this isn't even coherent. It's only a slight improvement over just placing random words on the page.

This series looking very familiar to what many refer to as America’s pistol the Glock has made a name for itself and has become a serious competitor to Glock possibly because of it’s ergonomics. Unfortunately for Springfield this new series was of no appeal to me their 1911 lineage at the time was still the best value on the market IMHO. In March of 2012 since announcing a newcomer to the XD-S series I have been searching hi and low for the right opportunity to review Springfield Armory’s compact power house, The Springfield XD-S 45ACP.

I couldn't get any farther than that.

Great review man. My stepdad got one last week and it's a great shooter, surprisingly accurate. I prefer 9x19 personally (I know I know I know) so I hope Springfield releases one in that chambering.

I kinda agree, bro. It reads like nails on the proverbial chalkboard.

All in all, good write up of what was legible.

I ordered an XD-S last week so I read the review with interest. However, I also had a hard time until I got to the "Wrapping Up" part where you plagiarize text from Springfield's website. I use the word plagiarize since the paragraph below wasn't in quotes.

"The XD-S feels so natural; it’s like an extension of your own body. The unique combination of an ultra-slim profile paired with enhanced performance point-and-shoot features allows you to shoot accurately without having to adjust your wrist giving you greater control. At only 1” wide, the XD-S fits as perfectly into your concealed-carry strategy as it does in the palm of your hand. And with it, you get the power of a .45 with superior control and comfort without sacrificing important safety features."

1858,

Thanks for the feedback, that surely should have been quoted. It would be crazy to take something from such a popular site and try to use it as original.

I think it is hard to follow because of the format. The pictures are adding spaces and splitting up sentences where there shouldn't be.

Jimbo555,

I am not sure what the recommended change interval is but I am sure Springfield Armory will tell you if you contact them.

I know it is a totally different platform but on my 1911's at about 2k rounds I start watching the ejection pattern to see if there is much of a change. I also compare and old spring to a new one to make sure it has not compressed more than about 1/2 inch. Again this won't help with the captured guide rod and spring of the XD-S.

So I guess the real answer is contact Springfield Armory :)

XDsa

Bought one,shot it.

Liked it and it has replaced my Glock 23 that I have worn for over 15 years.

Its on now and COMFORTABLE.

I have always preferred the XD line to any Glock. Dont get me wrong, I would trust my life to a Glock if need be. I think they are good guns and history has proven that. The glock is made for low experience shooters. The grip angle on the gun makes sure that the shooter pushes with the dominant hand, thereby bringing the gun back on target faster. The problem with a Glock is that if you pick up almost any pistol and go to fire, you are going to be low every time. I know what you are thinking right now, you should always maintain a good sight picture with every shot. Phoey! When you are engaged in a firefight you dont have the time to take up a good sight picture every shot. Do so on your first shot and then let muscle memory takes over. Like shooting a recurve bow. Let your hand guide the bullets. The XD line has almost the same identical grip angle as the 1911 platform and most other pistols for that matter. You can, therefore, pick up almost any pistol on the battlefield and have a good feel for the gun. Just my thoughts. Hopefully I can add an XD-S to my collection soon!

Jimbo555:
I have well over 8,000 rounds through my XD 9mm without changing any parts. They will last a long time.
