Compact (straight tube) scope for my 1894 .44 Mag?

I am interested in putting a little optic on my Marlin 1894 to help with load selection and hunting. I don't plan on shooting past 100 yards, so 4x is plenty enough zoom, with a bit less being better. I really like the looks of the BSA Tactical Weapon Rifle Scope However it is of course a BSA and I'm afraid it'll break down during a hunt.

My plan is to mount a tiny scope on the front two reciever holes using a small base which I may dowel to the receiver at the machine shop I work at if it walks at all. I am interested in the BSA mounting system that is supposedly see-through as this would allow me to also use my XS sights that are mounted to the rear two receiver holes.

Any insight on a compact scope under $200 would be very welcome.

used is a good suggestion. Also, you will probably find a 2-7x32 cheaper than a 1-4x. There is more demand for them so you get a more available and a lower price. (and they're not much bigger)
