compact sub-compact sao auto's

Why don't any companys make compact or sub-compact sized single action autos? I have a kahr CW9 (and it's the perfect size & weight) I just don't like the trigger and at this point I'd rather just get something else. I know sig makes the p238/p938 but they are too small. It seems like the only thing else I can find are the colt agents, sig ultra and kimber ultra carry but they are just a little too heavy for the type of clothes that I wear. Unless there's a brand I'm oblivious to there doesn't seem to be anything in this size/weight range. I'd appreciate any input.

Like this? It would be a bit heavier than a polymer, but it is a slight change from the 1911 style.

yes. a polymer under 20 oz. With a grip I can get all four fingers on. preferably in 9mm

By SAO are you wanting a hammer fired gun? Because the Springfield XD is technically a SA gun.

That's a pretty tall order...

I don't know of any sub-20oz poly subcompact gun that functions similar to a 1911 (which seems to be what you're looking for), heck I can't think of anything even close.

I am at a loss as well. It is pretty much a given that a 1911 will be all metal.... The (few) polymer framed ones have not been well liked.

But here is one that should be coming out soon that has some potential.

Because when people want a 1911 they want it to be metal. The polymer 1911s have just never caught on. Polymer pretty much dominates the striker-fired market; and as I said, The Springfield XD is a SA gun; it just doens't have an exposed hammer.

Here is a Kimber that comes in at 25oz. If you are wanting a "light" 1911, that is about as good as you are going to get. And I would bet that switching the grips will take it down close to 20oz.

The sig 238/938 function like a 1911 but you say they are too small.The colt new agent or springfield emp is the next step up.

The CZ RAMI in polymer is probably the closest. It is a double action, but can be carried SA. The alloy frame one is a little heavier. There were also the Star Firestars of the 1990s, but being all steel, are much heavier.

I also think you're misunderstanding the weight savings of polymer vs. forged aluminum. The Kahr CW45 weighs 19.7 oz empty. The Glock 36 weighs 20.11 oz empty. The Colt Defender weighs 24 oz. The Kahr and the Glock both have plastic sights, while the Colt has steel sights. Because they're striker fired, the Kahr and the Glock have fewer parts in their fire control group. The SA only Colt adds a hammer, hammer strut, hammer pin, sear, sear pin, mainspring, mainspring housing pin (I'm not counting the mainspring housing since it's essentially part of the frame), grip safety, and thumb safety. Add all that to a polymer frame, and the weight will be the same.

To which the answer is, "There just isn't much demand for a polymer framed small 1911 platform"

You could try the CZ Rami, which is a nice gun, but I haven't found it a better CCW than the Kahr CW9.

The trigger on the CW9 is a really nice DAO and is every bit as fast and accurate as SAO...it just takes the correct technique

You should check out STI's lineup of pistols seen as the electra is 23 ounces and there are polymer double stack alternitives also.

The Para Slim Hawg is 24 oz, but otherwise would fit your requirements.

I personally find the safety levers on the RAMI poly to be difficult to operate as they are far forward for my short thumbs as well as very flat to the sides of the gun, but YMMV.
