I have a new Ruger SR40c that I am just getting used to (fired about 500 rds so far). Although this gun is very nice to shoot, there are some features about it that do not particularly please me. I also have a Taurus 740 Slim which is very small and light but has a terrible long and creepy trigger - otherwise it is quite accurate and I enjoy shooting it very much. So I am still looking for a reasonably priced CCW that is as easy to carry as the 740 but shoots as nice as the SR40c without irritating design flaws like a worthless slide release button and hard to use safety.
I have read a lot about the M&P Shield and I am interested in opinions you may have on how it compares to the SR40c --- perceived weight, size, trigger operation, recoil, warranty, etc. I especially would like to hear about any "known problems" that tend to show up in any significant number of guns. For example, the Ruger SR9c/SR40c seem to have a fair number of feed problems related to the extractor, and light strikes are also commonly reported. Before buying a new Shield in .40 S&W, what items should I pay particular attention to?
Thanx!
